This is a new edition of “Human Geography: Behavioural Approaches” (1984). The title has been changed to emphasize that the book is considering the way in which behavioural approaches can complement other approaches in the overall study of people-environment interaction. It offers a comprehensive synthesis, emphasizing both structural and behavioural approaches to the study of people-environment interaction. It pays particular attention ot the interplay between social and spatial structures and human agency. It also illustrates the value of the various approaches in understanding people-environment interaction through detailed examination of five key aspects of life, demonstrating the importance of choice and constraint in human use of the environment.
